I have been impatiently waiting for the tulip season to start ever since we visited Attingham Hall last May Day. Their tulips were stunning.
One thing I learned – and managed to persuade my husband – was that if you’re going to do tulips you have to go BIG.
I planted around four hundred tulips last November. They are surprisingly good value when bought online, especially if you bulk buy, and I started poring over the bulb catalogues at the end of summer.
I ordered three hundred bulbs which cost £70. The supplier also put in twenty free bulbs: ten of two different varieties which also matched my colour scheme.
The varieties I bought, in order from the top of the page, are: Pink Diamond, Spring Green, Abu Hassan, Apeldoorn, Request and Paul Sherer (the two freebie varieties), and Ballerina.
Maja and City of Vancouver are not quite ready yet but I am too impatient to post the rest to wait!
